Hi folks. I’ve been busy lately with extracurricular activities; specifically, I’ve been busy getting myself a job at Industrial Light & Magic. However, the show here at Cleverevans must go on, and so today I have a sketch of a farmer for you. This guy is more the sort of thing I’d like to post here. Just casual sketches and drawings, along with the occasional full-on drawing or painting. This particular farmer is pretty sedate; he’s a calm fellow and outwardly he doesn’t seem to be very interesting. But inside, there’s a lot going on; he’s worried about the price of soybeans this year. Also his teenage daughter seems to be paying far too much attention to that out of town stranger…
Some of you folks have complained that you can’t make comments. At first I turned commenting off. But I’ll turn it back on for now, as an experiment, to see how it goes. Comment away! Or don’t…
So, heres a pic of the sweater I’ve been working on for the past few months. I’m not too keen on the puckering that’s going on where the ribbing starts, but maybe wet-blocking the piece will fix that. This project is getting close to the finish line; I just have to do the sleeves, the button band, and then wet-block and it will be done. There’s more photos of the sweater on my flickr photostream.
Hi all. I’ve been on a tear lately, studying hands. I spent some time doing this study, based on another Bougereau painting, Les Noisettes (The Hazlenuts). Here’s my painting:

In some areas, my darks are not quite dark enough; particularly in the shadows on the hands. But otherwise, I’m pretty pleased with it.
I’ve been working on a painting for a while, and I’m very close to being done with it; I hope to post it in the next few days. Until then, enjoy your weekend!
Hi folks! After a hiatus of about 15 months, I’ve decided to come back to writing an online journal. Generally, I’ll be posting 3 kinds of content:
- artwork that I’ve made;
- stuff I’m knitting, and
- the occasional personal post.
Mostly I hope to post artwork that I’ve made, humble doodles and finished paintings and everything in between (and sideways.)
